Dear Friends, Carissimi Amici
I am pleased to announce the launch of my new personal Blog Mobile in Emerging Markets: the Future is Now and invite you to go and visit it, read it and post your thoughts and experiences.
The idea of this Weblog came a few months ago during one of my frequent trips for the World Bank to work on communication issues. I asked myself: why not share with friends, colleagues and all of you out there my thoughts, observations and experiences on what's happening at the crossroad of mobile technology and economic, social and political changes in Emerging and development markets? And, more importantly, why not solicit feedback, exchange of ideas and foster debates on these critical issues that affect individuals, communities, business, the media and public institutions in those countries and around the world?
I therefore decided to blog and do it regularly, to invite and encourage friends to do so and proactively share ideas and experiences on my Weblog as well as on others'. I choose I would venture south to seek for challenge, knowledge, and uderstanding and I was inspired by a picture of a muddy truck with a "Calabrese" sign on its back taken from a friend in Ethiopia. I used to see those same trucks roaming around on Italian highways when I was a kid. Now I decided that it is time for Calabrese to go "Mobile" and to initiate his "South Ventures".
Thanks for joining me in my South Ventures and looking forward to your ideas.
Daniele, this is a great idea and I'm looking forward to reading your posts in the future.
I'm currently thinking about possible topics for writing my master's thesis in this field - where developments in mobile technologies and social and economical development intersect.
I'm still at the beginning of my research of current problematiques but one topic that already stood out for me is how these changes might foster entrepreneurship.
If you have ideas and thoughts about which area could need some research and case studies, I'd be glad if you let me know.
Good luck with the blog!
